Almond scone served

Almond Scones

The scone is a traditional British pastry, extremely popular in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The almond version is particularly loved, as the rich flavor of almonds perfectly complements the soft, crumbly dough of the scone. You can easily make this recipe at home to offer a delectable treat to your family or guests.

    Preparation Steps

    1

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

    2

Cut the cold butter into cubes, then use your fingertips or a pastry blender to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

    3

Add the egg, milk, and vanilla sugar. Quickly mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

    4

Once the dough comes together, add the chopped almonds and gently fold them in.

    5

Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and form it into a disc about 1 inch (3 cm) thick.

    6

Cut the disc into 6-8 wedges and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

    7

Once baked, let them cool for a few minutes before serving fresh.
