Apfelpfannkuchen, German apple pancakes served

Apfelpfannkuchen

Apfelpfannkuchen, or German apple pancake, is a traditional dish often enjoyed for breakfast or as a light dessert. It is a popular dish in Germany, especially during the autumn and winter months when fresh apples and cinnamon bring a pleasant warmth to meals. The apples are baked directly into the pancake batter, so the sweet and slightly caramelized flavor perfectly complements the soft batter. Apfelpfannkuchen is often served with powdered sugar, honey, or maple syrup and is an excellent choice with a cup of coffee or tea.
