Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a cake pan with parchment paper, or grease and flour it.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon.
Peel and slice the apples, then sprinkle them with a little sugar and cinnamon.
In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and arrange the apple slices on top.
Bake the cake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
Whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks, then spread it over the top of the cake. Dust with powdered sugar or garnish with additional apple slices.
