In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and sugar. Cut in the butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the egg yolks and mix until a dough forms. Roll out the dough and press it into the prepared baking pan.
In a separate bowl, combine the grated apples and cinnamon. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust.
In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually add the remaining sugar, beating until the meringue is glossy and holds its shape.
Gently spread the meringue over the apple layer.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the meringue is golden brown.
Let the slice cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar and slicing into squares or rectangles to serve.
