Baked tofu in fruity marinade, sprinkled with sesame seeds and cilantro

Baked Tofu in Fruity Marinade

Tofu is a staple ingredient in Asian cuisine, an excellent source of protein that absorbs a myriad of flavors. This fruity marinade gives the tofu a uniquely fresh and sweet-and-sour taste, made exciting by the natural sweetness of oranges and pineapple. Soy sauce and ginger perfectly balance this combination, while sautéing the tofu gives it a crispy exterior. This dish is a perfect choice for a light yet flavorful vegan dinner, which you can serve with rice, fresh vegetables, or salad.

    Preparation Steps

    1

Press the tofu with paper towels to remove excess moisture, then dice into cubes.

    2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the orange juice, pineapple juice, soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), grated garlic, and ginger, along with chili flakes if desired.

    3

Place the tofu cubes in the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, allowing the flavors to absorb.

    4

Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat, then sauté the tofu cubes for 5-7 minutes, until golden brown and crispy on all sides.

    5

Pour in the remaining marinade and cook for an additional 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and cling to the tofu cubes.

    6

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro or parsley, then serve with rice or fresh vegetables.
