    Preparation Steps

    1

Season the beef patties with salt and pepper on both sides. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, until a golden-brown crust forms.

    2

When the patties are almost cooked through, place a slice of gouda cheese on top of each patty. Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt.

    3

Make the caramelized onions: thinly slice the onion and sauté in olive oil over medium heat. Add the balsamic vinegar and cook until the onions are soft, translucent, and slightly sweet.

    4

Toast the hamburger buns until the cut sides are golden brown and crispy.

    5

Slice the tomatoes and prepare the arugula leaves.

    6

Assemble the burgers: spread garlic mayonnaise on the bottom bun, then layer with arugula, the cheese-topped beef patty, caramelized onions, and tomato slices.

    7

Top with the other half of the bun and gently press down. Serve immediately with French fries or a fresh salad.
