Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a cake pan.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and vanilla sugar.
Melt the butter and cream it together with the granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth after each addition.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely before slicing it in half horizontally. Spread the bottom layer with caramel sauce.
Slice the bananas and arrange them over the caramel sauce.
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the banana layer, then carefully place the top layer of the cake on top.
Drizzle the top of the cake with more caramel sauce and garnish with additional banana slices.
