Banana scones

Banana Scones

Scones are a traditional British pastry, originally from Cornwall, England. The banana version adds a fresh, sweet flavor to the scone, making it a perfect choice for breakfast or a snack. The mashed banana makes the dough moist, while the scone is crispy and golden brown on the outside. This dish is quick to prepare and ideal for any occasion.

    Preparation Steps

    1

Prepare the ingredients. Peel the banana and mash it with a fork.

    2

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.

    3

Dice the cold butter and add it to the flour mixture. Rub the butter into the flour with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    4

Add the mashed banana and mix well.

    5

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and milk together. Gradually add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined into a dough.

    6

Shape the dough into a disc and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Slightly flatten the top and use a sharp knife to cut crosswise slits into the top.

    7

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until the scones are nicely golden brown.

    8

Let the scones cool slightly before serving as desired.
