Barbecue chicken pizza with grilled chicken and red onion

Barbecue Chicken Pizza – California Style

Barbecue Chicken Pizza originated in California in the 1980s, when California pizzerias began to explore new flavor combinations. Barbecue sauce replaced the traditional tomato sauce and was topped with grilled chicken. The combination of the sweet and smoky sauce with chicken and cilantro was an instant hit. You can easily make this modern American-style pizza at home to bring a little California vibe to your kitchen!

    Preparation Steps

    1

Preheat your oven to 430°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    2

Roll out the pizza dough and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Gently stretch the dough at the edges to prevent the sauce from running off.

    3

Spread the barbecue sauce evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

    4

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the barbecue sauce.

    5

Arrange the thinly sliced grilled chicken breast and sliced red onion on top of the cheese.

    6

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

    7

After baking, sprinkle the pizza with chopped fresh cilantro. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
