Basil rice served

Basil Rice

Basil rice is a fresh and aromatic Mediterranean dish that offers an impressive flavor despite its simplicity. The scent of freshly cut basil perfectly harmonizes with the soft texture of the garlic rice, while the slight acidity of the lemon juice enhances the flavors. Imagine the aroma of garlic sizzling in a hot pan mingling with the freshness of basil, as the rice steams softly and fragrantly. This recipe is not only quick to make but also a perfect accompaniment to grilled meats, fish, or can even be served as a simple vegetarian dish.

    Preparation Steps

    1

Rinse the rice thoroughly in cold water until the water runs clear. This helps to keep the grains separate and fluffy.

    2

Bring the water to a boil, then add the rice and cook over medium heat for 12-15 minutes, or until all the liquid is absorbed.

    3

Mince the garlic and chop the fresh basil. If using Parmesan, grate it.

    4

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, then add the garlic and sauté for 1 minute, until fragrant.

    5

Add the cooked rice to the skillet and stir to combine with the sautéed garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

    6

Add the chopped fresh basil and lemon juice, then gently stir to combine.

    7

If using Parmesan, sprinkle it on top before serving.

    8

Serve warm as a side dish or as a light meal.
