BBQ baked beans served

BBQ Baked Beans

BBQ baked beans are a classic dish in American barbecue culture, traditionally served alongside meats, but they also stand their ground as a standalone dish. Smoky, slightly sweet-and-sour bean dishes are popular in North America and Europe. The combination of brown sugar and smoked paprika enhances the natural aroma of the beans, while the BBQ sauce adds a rich and full flavor. This recipe is not only delicious, but also easy to prepare and nutritious – perfect for a barbecue party or a light weekday lunch.

    Preparation Steps

    1

If using dried beans, soak them overnight and then cook until tender in plenty of water. If using canned beans, rinse and drain them.

    2

Finely chop the onion and garlic. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

    3

Sauté the onion over medium heat for 3-4 minutes, then add the garlic and sauté for another minute, until fragrant.

    4

Stir in the tomato paste, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Pour in the water and mix thoroughly.

    5

Add the cooked or drained beans and stir well to ensure they are evenly coated with the sauce.

    6

Simmer over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.

    7

Serve warm as a side dish alongside grilled foods, or piled on a slice of toast for a satisfying meal.
