Peel and finely chop the red onion and garlic.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the red onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes, or until softened.
Add the smoked paprika and brown sugar, stirring well to combine and bloom the spices.
Pour in the tomato paste, BBQ sauce, and soy sauce. Stir until smooth.
Add the red kidney beans, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
Before serving, sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley. Serve hot.
