Shred the cabbage into thin strips and place in a large bowl.
Slice the red onion into thin rings and add to the cabbage.
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, honey, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. This will be the dressing.
Heat a little olive oil in a skillet or on a grill rack. Add the cabbage and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until slightly softened and lightly browned.
Pour the BBQ sauce over the grilled cabbage and mix well to coat evenly.
Add the capers, then thoroughly toss the salad with the dressing.
Before serving, sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley and let it sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
