Peel the red onions and cut them into thick slices (about 1 cm thick).
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, BBQ sauce, lemon juice, honey, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Brush both sides of the onion slices with the spiced mixture.
Preheat the grill to medium heat, or use a grill pan.
Place the onion slices on the grill rack and cook for 3-4 minutes, until golden brown and slightly caramelized.
Carefully flip them over with a spatula and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side.
Before serving, sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley and drizzle with a little extra lemon juice.
Serve fresh with grilled meats or vegetables, or add to salads and sandwiches.
