Thoroughly wash and dry the mushrooms. If they are large, cut them in half or quarters.
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
Place the mushrooms in a large bowl and pour the marinade over them. Toss well to ensure all pieces are evenly coated. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. If using a grill grate, lightly oil it to prevent the mushrooms from sticking.
Place the mushrooms on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until lightly browned and cooked through.
During the last minute of grilling, brush the mushrooms with BBQ sauce using a basting brush. Cook for another minute to allow the sauce to caramelize slightly.
Remove the mushrooms from the grill and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving. Serve warm as a side dish or as a main course.
