BBQ grilled pecan pie served

BBQ Grilled Pecan Pie

Pecan pie is a classic American dessert, traditionally made in the oven, but the BBQ version offers a unique and special flavor experience. Grilling adds a smoky aroma to the crust, while the caramelized pecan filling remains perfectly creamy. This dessert is an ideal choice for outdoor barbecues, family events, or holiday occasions. To make it even more special, try adding a little orange zest or cinnamon to the filling!

    Preparation Steps

    1

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and vanilla sugar.

    2

Add the cold butter and cut it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

    3

Add one egg and knead the dough until it comes together. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

    4

While the dough chills, prepare the filling: in a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, honey, and heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.

    5

Remove from heat and stir in the roughly chopped pecans and the remaining egg until well combined.

    6

Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 350°F or 180°C) and prepare a heat-resistant pie dish or BBQ baking sheet.

    7

Roll out the dough and place it into the pie dish, then prick the bottom with a fork.

    8

Pour in the pecan filling and spread it evenly.

    9

Place the pie on the grill and bake covered for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.

    10

Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving, garnished with whipped cream or extra pecans, if desired.
