Cut the tofu into slices approximately 1 cm thick. Gently press out any excess moisture using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. This will be your marinade.
Place the tofu slices in a shallow dish and brush them with the marinade. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to absorb.
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using a grill with grates, lightly oil them to prevent the tofu from sticking.
Place the tofu slices on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until they develop golden-brown grill marks and a slightly crispy exterior.
During the last minute of grilling, brush the tofu with BBQ sauce and cook for another minute to allow the sauce to caramelize slightly.
Remove the tofu from the grill and sprinkle with fresh cilantro before serving. Serve warm as a side dish or as a main course.
