Thoroughly wash the zucchinis, then slice them lengthwise into ¼-inch thick slices. If they are smaller, cut them into rounds.
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. This will be your marinade.
Place the zucchini slices in a large bowl and brush both sides with the marinade. Let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to absorb.
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. If using a grill grate, lightly oil it to prevent the zucchini from sticking.
Place the zucchini slices on the grill and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until they have nice grill marks and are slightly tender but still crisp.
During the last minute of grilling, brush the zucchini with BBQ sauce, then cook for another minute to allow the sauce to caramelize slightly.
Remove the zucchini from the grill and sprinkle with fresh basil before serving. Serve warm, as a side dish or as a main course.
