Add the grated ginger and garlic, then sprinkle in the chili flakes, smoked paprika, and olive oil. Mix well to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
Pour in the lime juice and mix again. This adds freshness and a slight acidity to the marinade, which helps tenderize the meats.
Place the meats or vegetables you want to marinate in a resealable bag or bowl, then pour the marinade over them. Make sure to coat everything evenly.
Cover the bowl or seal the bag, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
Before using, remove the marinated ingredient from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes to ensure even grilling.
