BBQ pulled beef served

BBQ Pulled Beef

BBQ pulled beef is a staple of American BBQ culture, made from beef that is slow-cooked for many hours. It became truly popular in the southern states of the United States, especially Texas and the Carolinas, where the BBQ technique has been perfected over decades. The secret is long, slow roasting or cooking, which allows the meat fibers to soften and the spicy BBQ sauce to permeate it deeply. The harmonious balance of flavors is provided by the sweet, smoky and slightly spicy aromas, which are perfectly balanced by the vinegar and brown sugar. This dish is a perfect choice for gatherings with friends or family barbecues. If you want a truly authentic experience, serve it in freshly baked burger buns with a serving of crispy coleslaw. You can use the leftovers the next day, rolled in a tortilla or even as a base for layered dishes.

    Preparation Steps

    1

Prepare the beef: pat it dry with paper towels, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and brown sugar. Rub the spices thoroughly into the meat.

    2

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the beef on all sides for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned. This will help to seal in the flavors.

    3

Place the beef in a slow cooker or a large pot. Add the chopped onion, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and water/beef broth.

    4

Cover the pot and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours (or at 275°F / 130°C in the oven). The beef is ready when it's easily shredded with a fork.

    5

Once the beef is tender, remove it from the pot and shred it with two forks. Mix it with the cooking juices and a little extra BBQ sauce.

    6

Serve in burger buns, tortilla wraps, or with sides like coleslaw. Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro, if desired.
