Wash and pat the ribs dry. In a bowl, combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, Hungarian sweet paprika, and brown sugar. Rub the spice mixture all over the ribs. Let them rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and cover tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 2 to 2.5 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bone.
Once the ribs are cooked, remove the foil and brush both sides generously with barbecue sauce.
Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the barbecue sauce is caramelized and sticky.
Let the ribs rest for 5 minutes before carving into individual ribs. Serve with a fresh salad, roasted potatoes, or grilled vegetables.
