Peel the garlic cloves, then wrap them in aluminum foil, drizzle with olive oil, and bake at 350°F (180°C) for 15 minutes, or until softened and caramelized.
In a medium saucepan, combine the BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, chili flakes, salt, and black pepper.
Add the roasted garlic and use an immersion blender to purée the sauce until smooth and creamy.
Cook over medium heat for an additional 5 minutes, or until the flavors have melded together.
If necessary, add water to achieve the desired consistency, then let it cool slightly.
Serve with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or french fries.
