Thoroughly rinse the tuna steaks in cold water, then pat them dry with paper towels. Remove any skin or membrane.
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, BBQ sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, brown sugar, honey, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
Place the tuna steaks in a large bowl and pour the BBQ marinade over them. Toss well to coat, then let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the smoker to 195-210°F (90-100°C). Distribute the charcoal or wood evenly in the smoker to ensure consistent smoke.
Place the marinated tuna steaks on a rack in the smoker and smoke slowly for 45-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the fish reaches 140°F (60°C).
During the last 10 minutes of smoking, lightly brush the tuna steaks with extra BBQ sauce and continue to smoke for a few more minutes to allow the glaze to caramelize slightly.
Remove the smoked tuna steaks from the smoker and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley.
Serve warm with lemon wedges, a fresh salad, or grilled vegetables. It's also an excellent choice with toasted bread or garlic butter.
