BBQ spiced rice served

BBQ Spiced Rice

BBQ spiced rice is a unique side dish that perfectly complements grilled meats and vegetables. In American barbecue traditions, smoky, spicy elements are often used to flavor dishes, and this rice follows that line. BBQ sauce gives the rice a deep, smoky flavor, while soy sauce and garlic powder enhance the umami effect. For an even more exciting variation, try serving it with a little fried onion or roasted peppers!

    Preparation Steps

    1

Rinse the rice in cold water to remove excess starch.

    2

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic powder and smoked paprika, and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

    3

Add the rice and toast for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until lightly toasted.

    4

Add 500 ml of water, salt, pepper, and soy sauce, then stir to combine.

    5

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed all the water.

    6

Once the rice is cooked, stir in the BBQ sauce and let it rest, covered, for 5 minutes.

    7

Before serving, garnish with chopped green onions and serve warm.
