Blackberry scone served

Blackberry Scones

The scone is a traditional British pastry that is extremely popular in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The blackberry version is especially well-liked, as the fresh taste of the fruit perfectly complements the soft, crumbly dough of the scone. Preparation Steps

    1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

    2

Dice the cold butter and cut it into the flour mixture using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    3

Add the egg, milk, and vanilla sugar and quickly mix until just combined.

    4

Once the dough comes together, gently fold in the blackberries, being careful not to crush them.

    5

Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and shape it into a disc about 1 inch (3 cm) thick.

    6

Cut the disc into 6-8 wedges and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

    7

Let them cool for a few minutes before serving fresh.
