In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and pepper. Gently form into 4 equal-sized patties. TIP: Avoid over-compacting the patties, to keep them juicy.
Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly brush with olive oil. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they develop a golden-brown crust and are cooked through.
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cover the pan to allow the cheese to melt beautifully.
Meanwhile, cook the bacon slices in a separate skillet until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
Toast the inside of the hamburger buns on the grill pan or skillet.
Prepare the vegetables: slice the tomatoes and red onion, and wash the iceberg lettuce leaves.
Assemble the burgers: Spread blueberry jam on the bottom bun. Layer with lettuce, the cheesy patty, crispy bacon, tomato slices, and red onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
Serve immediately with a side salad or sweet potato fries. TIP: The sweetness of the blueberry jam perfectly complements the savory bacon.
