Mince the garlic. Heat a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Add the tomato puree, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.
Pour in the bourbon whiskey and stir to incorporate. Allow the alcohol to slowly evaporate while the flavors meld together.
Stir in the smoked Hungarian sweet paprika, half of the chili powder, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat to low and simmer the sauce for 15 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed with additional salt or sugar. Serve warm with grilled meats.
