In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns brown and has a nutty aroma. Let it cool slightly.
In a bowl, cream together the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the vanilla extract and browned butter, then mix thoroughly.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, alternating with the milk.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and let it cool completely on a wire rack. Before serving, dust with powdered sugar or serve with your favorite sauce.
