    Preparation Steps

    1

Prepare the ingredients. Zest the orange and dice the candied orange into small pieces.

    2

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.

    3

Dice the cold butter, add it to the flour mixture, and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    4

Add the orange zest and diced candied orange, then mix thoroughly.

    5

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, then add the milk. Gradually add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients, and mix until a dough forms.

    6

Shape the dough into a disc and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Slightly flatten the top, and use a sharp knife to cut crosswise slits into the top.

    7

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until the scones are nicely golden brown.

    8

Let the scones cool slightly before serving.
