Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a baking pan.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, and vanilla sugar until light and fluffy.
Melt the butter and add it to the egg mixture, mixing well.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
While the cake is baking, prepare the caramel topping: in a saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns a golden amber color. Gradually whisk in the heavy cream until smooth and creamy.
Let the caramel cool for a few minutes, then pour it over the cooled cake and spread evenly.
Refrigerate the caramel slice until set. Cut into squares and serve.
