Freshly baked Cheddar Pretzels

Cheddar Pretzels

Cheddar Pretzels are a special variation of classic pretzels, where the salty and intensely flavored cheddar cheese brings an extra layer of taste. The shape of the pretzel and the cheesy flavor are both popular in the world of beer snacks and appetizers. Cheddar cheese is one of the best-known cheeses in British cuisine, which perfectly complements the pretzel shape. Can be served fresh, warm, perfect for a snack or afternoon treat.

    Preparation Steps

    1

In a large bowl, combine the flour, active dry yeast, sugar, and salt. Add the lukewarm water and melted butter, then mix until a smooth dough forms.

    2

Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes, until it becomes elastic and smooth. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

    3

Divide the risen dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope, then shape them into pretzel shapes.

    4

Bring 1 liter of water to a boil, then remove from heat and add the baking soda (be careful, it will fizz!).

    5

Dip the pretzels one at a time into the baking soda water for 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

    6

Grate the cheddar cheese and sprinkle it evenly over the tops of the pretzels.

    7

Bake the pretzels in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown and crispy. Best served fresh.
