Cheese straws are very popular not only among children but also among adults.
This dish is not only perfect as a welcome treat, but also a great choice for a snack or even a delicious breakfast. Cheese straws are quick to prepare, and we can surprise our family with a fresh, crispy delicacy at any time. The combination of cheese and dough provides a truly mouth-watering experience that is present in every bite.
In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder.
Add the cold butter and cut it into the flour mixture using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the sour cream and mix until the dough comes together.
Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch (0.5 cm) thickness and sprinkle generously with grated cheese.
Fold the dough in half, roll it out again, and sprinkle with more cheese. Cut the dough into thin strips (straws).
Place the straws on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush the tops with beaten egg.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
