    Preparation Steps

    1

Prepare the vegetables: wash the lettuce leaves, slice the tomatoes and red onion into thin rings. Place everything on a plate for later use.

    2

Season the beef patties with salt and pepper on both sides. Preheat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, until a golden-brown crust forms.

    3

When the patties are almost done, place a slice of cheddar on each and cover to allow the cheese to melt. This helps the flavors meld together, and the cheese will become creamy.

    4

Halve the hamburger buns and toast the inside in a skillet or on a grill pan until lightly golden brown and crispy.

    5

Assemble the burgers: spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of the bun, place the lettuce leaf, the cheesy patty, tomato and red onion on top. Add ketchup and mustard to taste.

    6

Place the top half of the bun on top and gently press down. Serve immediately with french fries or a fresh salad.
