Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken breasts for 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
When the chicken breasts are nearly done, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each and cover the skillet to allow the cheese to melt.
Toast the hamburger buns in a skillet or on a grill until the inside surfaces are crispy and golden brown.
Prepare the vegetables: wash the lettuce leaves, slice the tomato, and thinly slice the red onion.
Assemble the burgers: spread ranch dressing on the bottom bun, add a lettuce leaf, the cheesy chicken breast, and then the tomato and red onion slices.
Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately with french fries or coleslaw.
