Rinse the chickpeas thoroughly, then mash with a fork or immersion blender.
Grate the carrot, finely chop the red onion and garlic.
In a bowl, combine the mashed chickpeas, vegetables, oatmeal, flour, parsley, and spices. Mix the mixture thoroughly, then let it stand for 10 minutes to allow the oatmeal to absorb the moisture.
Shape the mixture into four equal-sized patties, then fry in a pan over medium heat with a little olive oil for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
Halve the hamburger buns and lightly toast the cut sides in a dry skillet.
Spread a little vegan mayonnaise on the bottom bun, place the lettuce leaf on top, then the chickpea patty. Top with thinly sliced tomato, and finally the top bun.
Serve the finished burger immediately, and you can serve it with sweet potato fries or a fresh salad.
