Chili chicken samosa served

Chili Chicken Samosas

Samosas are iconic Indian filled pastries, originally from Persia. This chili chicken version is a modern twist on the classic, perfect for those who love spice. As the aroma of onion, garlic, and chili combines in the hot pan, the entire kitchen fills with intense scents. The secret to a good samosa lies not only in the filling but also in the perfectly sealed pastry edges – preventing the filling from leaking out during baking. This dish is ideal for gatherings with friends, a spicy snack, or even dinner with a fresh salad. For an even richer flavor, you can mix smoked paprika or lime juice into the filling.

    Preparation Steps

    1

First, prepare the ingredients: finely chop the onion, garlic, bell pepper, and chili pepper. Dice the chicken breast into small, approximately 0.5 cm cubes. Tip: The smaller the chicken cubes, the more evenly they will be distributed in the filling.

    2

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until translucent. Then, add the garlic and chili and sauté for another minute, until fragrant.

    3

Add the diced chicken breast to the skillet and cook over medium heat for 5-6 minutes, until it turns white. Add the bell pepper, tomato paste, salt, and pepper. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes, until the filling becomes thick and flavorful.

    4

Remove the skillet from the heat and let the filling cool slightly. It's important that it's not hot, otherwise it will soak the pastry.

    5

Roll out the puff pastry to a thickness of about 2 mm, then cut it into squares (10x10 cm). Place 1 tablespoon of chicken filling in the center of each pastry square, fold it in half into a triangle, and press the edges together with a fork to seal.

    6

Brush the tops of the samosas with beaten egg to ensure a beautiful golden-brown color. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Tip: Brushing with egg ensures a shiny and crispy surface.

    7

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and crispy. Serve fresh for the best taste!
