Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 9-inch (22 cm) cake pan with parchment paper.
Melt the dark chocolate over a double boiler, then let it cool slightly.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and ground walnuts.
In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in the vanilla extract and milk, then gently fold in the dry ingredients and the melted chocolate.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Before serving, dust with powdered sugar or garnish with grated chocolate and walnut pieces.
