Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and honey. Begin to warm over low heat.
Allow the mixture to slowly heat through, infusing the flavors, but be careful not to boil it.
Once the drink has reached the desired temperature and is fragrant, strain it to remove the spices and fruit pieces.
Serve the Christmas mulled cider hot in heat-resistant glasses, garnished with orange slices or a cinnamon stick.
