Prepare the ingredients: peel and pit the mango and dice it finely. Finely chop the onion and garlic.
In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes, until translucent.
Add the chopped garlic and cook for another minute, until fragrant.
Pour in the mango, barbecue sauce, honey, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well to combine.
Add the cinnamon, salt, and pepper, then stir thoroughly.
Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook for 15-20 minutes, until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded.
Taste the sauce, and if necessary, adjust the flavors with more honey for sweetness or apple cider vinegar for a more tangy taste.
Let it cool slightly, then blend until smooth using an immersion blender. Serve with grilled meats, chicken, or roasted vegetables.
