Wash the pears, slice them thinly, and remove the core.
In a saucepan, heat the apple juice over medium heat. Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, and honey.
Let it simmer gently for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld, but do not bring to a full boil.
Remove from the heat and let it cool slightly. Strain to remove the spices.
Pour the cooled spiced apple mixture into cider or sparkling water and mix well.
Pour into glasses, add a few ice cubes, and garnish with fresh pear slices and orange zest.
Serve immediately, or chill in the refrigerator for an hour for a more intense flavor.
