Cinnamon plum chutney served

Cinnamon Plum Chutney

This Cinnamon Plum Chutney is inspired by traditional Indian recipes, blending sweet, sour, and spicy flavors. The combination of plums and cinnamon creates a perfect harmony, while the ginger and onion add a subtle sharpness to the sauce. The secret to making it is to cook the plums slowly, allowing the flavors to fully meld and the chutney to achieve a thick, jam-like consistency. Imagine the freshly made chutney becoming richer with the flavors of spices and plums, while the sweet, warm scent of cinnamon fills the kitchen. It's the perfect accompaniment to roast meats, cheeses, or even simply spread on fresh bread.

    Preparation Steps

    1

Wash the plums, halve them, and remove the pits. Peel and finely chop the red onion.

    2

In a large saucepan, pour in the apple cider vinegar, then add the plums, chopped onion, brown sugar, ginger, cinnamon stick, salt, and pepper.

    3

Stir all the ingredients together, then cook over low heat for 40-50 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the plums soften and the sauce thickens.

    4

The chutney is ready when the plums have broken down and the chutney has a thick, jam-like consistency.

    5

Once ready, remove from the heat and let it cool slightly. Transfer the finished chutney to clean jars and seal.

    6

Serve with roast meats, cheeses, or simply with fresh bread.
