Cinnamon scones served

Cinnamon Scones

The scone is a traditional British pastry that is extremely popular in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The cinnamon version is particularly loved, as the warm, sweet aroma of cinnamon perfectly complements the soft, crumbly dough of the scone. You can easily make this recipe at home to offer a mouthwatering treat to your family or guests.

    Preparation Steps

    1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

    2

Dice the cold butter and cut it into the flour mixture using a pastry blender or your fingers, until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    3

Add the egg, milk, and vanilla sugar. Quickly mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

    4

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it into a disc about 1 inch (3 cm) thick.

    5

Cut the disc into 6-8 wedges and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

    6

Let the scones cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve fresh.
