Cinnamon-spiced mulled wine in a mug, garnished with a cinnamon stick and orange slice

Cinnamon-Spiced Mulled Wine

The tradition of mulled wine dates back centuries and is an essential part of winter holidays in many European countries. The spiced wine drink originated in Roman times, where wine was flavored with honey and herbs to keep soldiers warm during the cold months. This cinnamon-spiced version is particularly popular, as cinnamon, cloves, and star anise together create an intense, warming flavor profile. Orange adds freshness to the drink, while honey or brown sugar balances the powerful aromas of the spices with a slight sweetness. It's the perfect choice for cold winter evenings, evoking the atmosphere of holiday markets or for cozy moments with friends. To make it even more exciting, you can add a little vanilla or a pinch of ground black pepper for extra depth!
