Wrap the tofu in paper towels and place it under a weighted plate for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture.
Cut the tofu into equal-sized cubes, then toss with cornstarch to ensure an even coating. This helps the tofu to become crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Heat the sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook on all sides until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.
Meanwhile, mince the garlic and ginger, then mix them with the teriyaki sauce in a small bowl.
Once the tofu is cooked, pour the teriyaki sauce over it and stir to coat all sides well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has slightly thickened.
Chop the green onion and sprinkle it over the baked tofu along with the sesame seeds.
Serve hot, complemented with rice or steamed vegetables.
