Mince the garlic finely, zest the lemon, and squeeze the lemon juice. Prepare all the ingredients.
In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
Add the tomato puree, then pour in the apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
Stir in the brown sugar and smoked paprika. Mix well and simmer over low heat for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded.
Season with salt and black pepper to taste. For a more intense lemon flavor, add a little more lemon juice.
Let the sauce cool slightly before serving with grilled meats, chicken, or vegetables. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days.
