Prepare the ingredients: peel, pit, and dice the mango. Peel and finely chop the garlic and onion. Chop the fresh basil.

Pour in the tomato puree and add the diced mango. Stir well to combine.
Add the brown sugar, white wine vinegar, salt, and pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded.
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings as needed, adding more sugar for sweetness or vinegar for tanginess.
Finally, stir in the fresh basil and let cool slightly. Serve over pasta, grilled meats, or vegetables.
