Peel the ginger and slice it thinly or grate it for a more intense flavor in the cider.
Thoroughly wash the orange and slice it into thin rounds.
Pour the apple cider into a medium-sized saucepan and heat over medium heat.
Add the ginger, orange slices, cinnamon stick, and cloves to the saucepan.
Gently warm the drink, being careful not to boil it, allowing the flavors to meld together. This should take about 15 minutes.
Stir in the honey until it is completely dissolved in the cider.
Strain the drink to remove the ginger and spices.
Serve warm in heat-resistant mugs, garnished with an orange slice or a pinch of freshly grated ginger.
