Peel the garlic cloves and grate them or crush them into a paste.
In a large bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, and garlic.
Add the olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the flavors are evenly distributed.
Finally, stir in the finely chopped dill. This gives the sauce its characteristic fresh flavor.
Chill the tzatziki for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Serve with fresh pita bread or alongside grilled dishes.
