In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and Worcestershire sauce.
Divide the meat into four equal portions and form into patties.
Heat a skillet or grill to medium-high heat and lightly coat with olive oil.
Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, until nicely browned.
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and let it melt.
Halve the hamburger buns and toast them lightly in a dry skillet or on the grill.
To make the guacamole, mash the avocado with a fork and stir in the lime juice, finely chopped tomato, red onion, garlic, and cilantro. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of the bun, then top with a lettuce leaf.
Place the cheesy patty on top, then spoon a generous amount of freshly made guacamole over it.
Add the pickled cucumber slices and, if desired, a little more chopped cilantro.
Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately with french fries or a fresh salad.
