Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then shape into four equal-sized patties. After forming, chill them in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
Heat the sunflower oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover the skillet to allow the cheese to melt.
Halve the hamburger buns and toast the cut sides in a skillet or on a grill until lightly golden brown.
Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a beef patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and a ring of red onion. Drizzle with mustard and ketchup, then top with the other half of the bun.
Serve the hamburgers with a fresh salad, French fries, or any of your favorite sides.
